The Honorable Peter B. Teets Award

NDIA Space Division Members:

Once again, it’s time to begin the selection process for the 2016 Honorable Peter B. Teets Awards to be presented during the 2017 August Annual Awards Dinner at the Westfields Marriott in Chantilly VA (the night before the Annual NDIA National Security Space Policy and Architecture Symposium begins at the Engility/formerly TASC Heritage Conference Center in Chantilly VA).

CRITERIA:  The NDIA Space Division’s award recognizes public or private sector leadership or achievement that results in significant contributions to the development, introduction, operational contribution or support of space systems. The recipient(s) must be of notable influence and in their distinguished service, must have made significant contributions that have led to the strengthening of our national security by direct application of space capabilities and/or to the enhancement of our industrial technology base with application to space technology.  Following the process of the last 3 years, we seek to select two award winners.  One winner will represent exemplary government service, and one winner will be for outstanding service to the space industry.  Recent winners include:

The Honorable Peter B. Teets Awards is presented during the Annual Awards Dinner at the Westfields Marriott in Chantilly, Virginia (the night before the NDIA National Security Space Policy and Architecture Symposium at the TASC Heritage Conference Center).

The NDIA Space Division’s Teets Award recognizes public or private sector leadership or achievement that results in significant contributions to the development, introduction, operational contribution or support of space systems. The recipient(s) must be of notable influence, and in their distinguished service must have made significant contributions that strengthened our national security by direct application of space capabilities or the enhancement of our industrial space technology base. Following the process of the last three years, a six-person Award Committee, selected two award winners, one representing exemplary government service, and the other outstanding service to the space industry.

Past Honorees include:

  • 2015 Peter B. Teets Award winner in the government category - Lieutenant General John W. “Jay” Raymond, Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations, Headquarters United States Air Force
  • 2015 Peter B. Teets Award winner in the industry category - Mr. Martin C. Faga, retired President and Chief Executive Officer of the MITRE Corporation
  • 2014 Peter B. Teets Award winner in the government category is General John Hyten, Commander, Air Force Space Command for exemplary government service
  • 2014 Peter B. Teets Award winner in the industry category is Ms. Kay Sears for outstanding service to the space industry
  • 2013 - Ms. Betty Sapp and Mr. Jeff Harris
  • 2012 – Lt Gen Ellen Pawlikowski and Dr. Wanda Austin
