National Security Workforce:
Challenges and Solutions Workshop
(NDIA, AIA in Collaboration with DDR&E)

Event #534E
December 13-14, 2004
Boeing, Rosslyn, VA

The National Security Workforce: Challenges and Solutions Workshop was held on 13 and 14 December 2004 to bring members of industry, academia and the US Government together to find ways to maintain a healthy and robust aerospace and defense workforce. This was a collaboration between The Honorable Ron Sega, Director, Defense Research and Engineering, the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) and the Interagency Working Group. The primary goal of the workshop was to bring together key stakeholders in national security to discuss the challenges being faced by employers, both government and industry, and by academia, in finding, exciting, attracting, recruiting, and retaining skilled workers, technicians, scientists, engineers, mathematicians and other disciplines critical to national security. Objectives included the analysis and sharing of findings from a recent survey, providing a forum to collaborate on challenges and solutions to those challenges, identify new ideas for creative and innovative ways to solve these tough problems, and create an action plan for the future.
