41G0 - USAF TSPG Engineering Forum

USAF TSPG Engineering Forum

Event #41G0
July 21, 2004
Fairborn, OH

| Proceedings |

The Ohio Chapter of the NTSA hosted the TSPG Engineering Forum on 21 July 2004 at the Holiday Inn Fairborn I-675 Conference Center, which is adjacent to Wright-Patterson AFB. This forum was the start of an ongoing dialogue among government and industry members of the training system technical community. As presented during the February APBI, the forum focused on improving communications between engineers to enhance the quality of Air Force training systems through better processes and better understanding of overarching requirements, and to facilitate the sharing of lessons learned from an engineering perspective. Our inaugural topic addressed the topic of “Revitalizing Air Force and Industry Systems Engineering” as addressed by the latest revision to the DoD 5000 series acquisition documents. The Engineering Forum addressed the following topics:

  1. Background and rationale for DoD concern with respect to systems engineering.
  2. DoD initiatives for developing methods and metrics for ensuring compliance with system engineering processes.
  3. TSPG perspective on systems engineering applicability to training systems and candidate implementation strategies.
  4. Industry led work session to provide feedback and recommendations.
