Navy-Industry International Dialogue (NIID) Program
The NIID is a forum organized by the Navy International Programs Office (NIPO) and the International Division of NDIA. Established in 1999, the NIID has grown from a quarterly update of NIPO activities to its current, issue/topic oriented dialogues. The objectives of the NIID are as follows:
-
Host a forum that focuses on important, topical issues that provide a compelling reason for U.S. government, industry and foreign attachés to attend.
-
Provide NIPO with the opportunity to share its views and activities with industry and the attaché community.
-
Discuss and promote the opportunities for international participation in current and future navy programs.
-
Structure the event in a way that promotes the open exchange of ideas among the U.S. Navy, industry and attaché community participants.
The next NIID will be held on Tuseday, June 28, 2011 at the Army Navy Country Club.
This NIID will focus on Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) management and capabilities. The USN is unique among the U.S. services in its acquisition of UASs; deploying systems ranging from small/tactical through high altitude/persistent aircraft, and everything in between - including shipboard systems designed for maritime use, and vertical take-off and landing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (VTUAVS)
Topics for NIID meetings are developed cooperatively by representatives of the International Division and NIPO staff.
