Health Affairs Division

Health Affairs Division

Mission

To realize our Vision, NDIA Health Affairs will provide our Members with:

  • Creative Opportunities to engage with fellow industry leaders; key government influencers; and, cutting-edge academics on critical issues ranging from research and development and future technology, to requirements development and procurement policy.
  • Identification of obstacles and gaps to effective industry/government partnering, as well as an advocate for key improvements to government policies, procedures and/or laws.
  • Integrated Focus on both DoD and VA healthcare needs to improve care across the entire continuum of need:  from battlefield injury to recovery—acute diagnosis to comprehensive treatment—Wounded Warrior care to life-long wellness.

Vision

The NDIA Health Affairs Division will become the leading industry-focused Defense and Veteran's Health Organization by inspiring vital medical and technological innovations; advocating for critical changes in government policies, procedures and legislation; and facilitating key industry, government and academic partnerships to significantly improve diagnostic, treatment and overall care for our Nation's heroes and their families.

Focus

The Health Affairs Division, established in 1996, maintains its focus on areas relating to policymaking, planning, programming and regulation of health care technology. The division also considers the related areas of research and development, technology modeling and simulation, procurement, military medicine, software and health care providers.

The division seeks opportunities to promote meaningful interaction and dialog between high-level government and industry officials from across health care. For example, in 2014, the division initiated a breakfast roundtable series to discuss how industry can best support the Defense Health Agency (DHA) enterprise shared services, as well as to explore strategies to create a better, stronger, more relevant medical force.  As with many NDIA events, these sessions are closed to the media and trade press, so all comments are strictly off the record and not-for-attribution. Additionally, the division has teamed with the US Army Medical Research and Material Command (USAMRMC) to produce Military Medicine Partnership Days.
